Dr C A Soper, MA, MBA, PhD, is a psychotherapist and psychologist in private practice. He is based in Almada, near Lisbon, Portugal.
Soper has degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of London, and is registered by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. His therapeutic work specialises in helping people deal with addiction, depression, bereavement and other life crises. Soper also provides supervision for other counsellors and psychotherapists.
Soper’s recent book, The Evolution of Suicide, advances a scientific framework for understanding common psychiatric conditions not as deficiencies or disorders, but as the human mind’s normal, protective response to chronic emotional distress. The book adds to a body of evidence that most common psychopathologies can be expected to lift, given time and benign conditions, with or without medical intervention.
